HP 1300 - Anything better?

S

Stest!

I'm looking to print about 5000 pages a month, need 250+ capacity, built in
PostScript, envelope support. Want something reliable for business.

In the price range of the HP 1300 laserjet ($370) is there anything in this
class that will do a better job for less money? Please let me know.

Consider the Samsung 2150. It's more robust than the 1300 and better suited
for business workgroup use. It doesn't have PostScript built-in, but this
can be added using an expansion chip. The 2151N adds PS plus networking,
but costs a bit more. However I've seen some significant rebates for this
model.

A good used HP Laserjet 4M Plus or HP Laserjet 5M Plus:

Hardware Postscript, not the stupid Software Emulation!!!!!
12 Page Per Minute.
Avg about 1 penny per page cost (Reman'd Toner at around $55/each that gives you
about 6k prints).
Memory upgrades are extremely cheap (Use 72 pin 70 ns Fastpaging Mode SIMMs that
have Present Detect Signal)
Parts are readily available almost any where and cheap.
Could get an internal JetDirect card for less than $50.
22k page/month duty cycle.

Should be able to get a very good used one for less than $230.
