Hello,

See <http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_1012>
`Unfortunately, the new LaserJet 1010/1012/1015 series seems not to be
absolutely compatible with older HP printers or it has a firmware bug.
Sometimes it happens that the printer stops working and reports the
error "Unsupported Personality: PCL". It only continues working when
one kills the job and power-cycles the printer. So up to now it is not
recommended to buy this printer.'

Thank you Alan!

I have a user using the HP1012 printer and is experiencing the same
issue that many others are. I had seen the posting you supplied in
your first post, so thank you about that. I guess ill keep searching
until i find a viable solution. One never wants to suggest another
printer thus Id prefer to find a way around this but so far it doesnt
seem promising..

Thank you
Dave

There have in the past been HP printers that had significant operability
problems. HP's response in tha case of the Deskjet 1120c wide format
inkjet, which purchasers were inundating HP's consumer forum with
resports of problems was quick and decisive: they killed off the
consumer forums. All of them.
