how to use dynamic %username% for rdp

Kiran

hi there,

i am looking to use %username% environmental variable for
rdp connection, but not sure how. My intention is that
when a user logs on to his/her computer, he/she should be
able to click the rdp connection that is on the user's
desktop and the username in the connection should be the
person who logged on. this will save me from configuring
rdp connections on every log on on a machine.

Can any one please help.

thank you,

Kiran.

hi,

I think there is no such way to use environmental
variable for rdp connections.

Is it such a big deal for users to have to type their logon name? If this is an absolute requirement, then look at Citrix MetaFrame which supports pass-thru authentication

Yes Patrick

people are uncomfortable to logon twice. i mean once to the network and then to another server using rdp. Thats why i was wondering if we can do it so that people do not need to logon twice. and we cannot use citrix as we are runniong on small biz server 2000

Hi Patrick

I believe that I should explain you the situation in more detail. the user logs on to the network normally on win 2000 small biz server. then when needed to access some progranm on a different server the user starts the rdp session. Now, this requires the user to log ion to the network twice: 1. to the network 2. to the different server when he/she needs to access the program. And some users are not happy for doing this

Can you tell me any way of doing this on the present system?

thanks

kiran
