How to uninstall msxml6 without msi file on XP?

Bogdan

Hi,

I need to uninstall msxml6 service pack 2 from XP. Unfortunately, the
folder that had the corresponding .msi file is gone. Is there a way I can
do it?
If not, is there a way to re-install msxml6 without proper uninstalling it
first?

Thanks,
Bogdan

WICU only removes Windows Installer objects (.msi, .msp, .mst) so that
the application can be reinstalled. It does not remove applications.

Leonard,

Thanks for the reply.

The utility also "cleans up" the Registry so the OS 'thinks' that a given
app is no longer installed. And this is exactly what I was looking for. I
had a corrupt msxml6 sp2 and could not install sqlexpress because of it. I
could not un-install it and therefore could not re-install a new copy.

Thanks again,
Bogdan

No, WICU does not "clean up" the registry or fool your operating system.

When I said 'clean up' I meant 'remove [some of] msi related stuff from the
Registry related to a given app'. I'm not able to test it again but it must
be the case. Otherwise 'Add/Remove Programs' would show the application as
installed. Also, the installation of the app would fail. So, there are
definitely changes made to the Registry.
