How to turn off embedded animation in PowerPoint ribbon template

In the ribbon template there's an object that looks like a piece of ribbon
that moves accross the slide from left to right like a motion path. This
must complete before any animation will start and it takes about 5 seconds.

How do I turn this off?

Go to View > Master > Slide Master
Click on the piece of ribbon in question (in its final position). Once
selected click DELETE

Do the same for the Title master.

Alternatively remove the custom animation from the master

Better yet trash the whole template - I hate it!
