How to Stop Refreshing?

I have dial-up internet service. When I hit the "Back" button on a web page,
if the page I'm going back to has auto-refresh, it takes unnecessary time
for the page to refresh; I don't care if it doesn't refresh.

Is there a setting to prevent pages from refreshing when you go back to
them? This would speed up things a lot.

Hi,

Maybe you don't care for refreshing, but the author of the webpage does... A
webmaster can force a refresh of a page that is loaded from the cache.
