How to stop Outlook automatically reducing font size?

Guest

All of a sudden my Outlook is reducing the size of the font in the original
message when I reply/forward. It is very very small and so difficult to read.
This is new, was not happening before.

Sounds like you're using Word as your e-mail editor and you've modified the
zoom factor in Word to lower than 100%

Thank you so much! I must have changed it inadvertently, but I spent ages
looking for clues to the problem in Word and Outlook. Happy New Year.

If you have downloaded the beta version of IE8, this version will interfere
with the font size on HTML incoming mail. Go to Settings, Add Remove Programs
and delete IE8. The version 7 will then reinstall.

Changing the zoom factor in Word does not help. Changing fonts in Outlook
makes a lot of mess, so just erase IE8. IE8 have several other bugs as well,
so wait for the final version.

Wow thanks, I thought at first that my eyes were going today, then it
seemed to get even smaller. It started on me this morning out of nowhere. I
have no idea how I may have inadvertantly changed it.

How and where do you modify the zoom factor?

Very Helpful. I have no idea how I did it either. Just remember that your
zoom pops up when you reply and then change the font

I notice you posted three very terse replies. Microsoft support forums
work differently from your typical support websites.

Please start a new thread and include complete details of your question,
including versions of Windows, Office, and the current service pack so
we can help you. We need complete steps to reproduce your problem in our
labs.

You may not realize this, but the people who answer questions in these
forums normally do not use the Web interface as it is extremely
inefficient. I monitor literally hundreds of forums simultaneously and
see new questions almost in real-time. When you post a reply to an old
thread, we can't see the old thread and thus we can't infer the context
of your reply.

I have Windows Vista and am using Microsoft Outlook 2007. I believe I have
Service Pack 2 installed. I am also using IE8. My computer is only 1 year
old. On 1 March 2010, I noticed that when I reply/forward an e-mail message,
Outlook automatically decreases the size of the font of the original message
to miniscule almost unreadable size. I have checked everything under
"Options" in Outlook and have been unable to stop this occurrence.

After reading what the other people who answer questions had supplied, I
just "tersely" replied that each thing they suggested to do did not solve my
problem.

Since you informed me you cannot see threads to an earlier post, here are
the suggestions they made and my replies to each of them.

1. " Sounds like you're using Word as your e-mail editor and you've
modified the zoom factor in Word to lower than 100%."
My reply: My zoom factor is at 100% and that does not solve the problem.

2. "If you have downloaded the beta version of IE8, this version will
interfere
with the font size on HTML incoming mail. Go to Settings, Add Remove
Programs and delete IE8. The version 7 will then reinstall.

Changing the zoom factor in Word does not help. Changing fonts in Outlook
makes a lot of mess, so just erase IE8. IE8 have several other bugs as well,
so wait for the final version."
My reply: I cannot locate a place on my computer to remove IE8. It does
not come up when I go to: "uninstall a program" in the Control Panel.
Therefore no resolution from this for me either.

Last but not least, I think I only made 2 replies unless one dropped off the
page.

Would appreciate very much any assistance you can give me in this matter. I
spent about 2 1/2 hours on my own attempting to resolve the problem and about
an hour with a friend whose vocation is in the computer arena.

Again, please start a new thread and explain your problem from the
beginning. We use a different interface and simply can't see older
threads. I can choose to spend 30 minutes looking for them, or I can
answer 30 questions. Which is a better use of my time?

If I don't know what is your original problem, I can't help you.

In your new thread post the following:

OS version
Outlook version
Service pack version
List of all Add-ins you are using with Outlook
Your antivirus solution
Are these Exchange, POP3, or IMAP accounts?
Link to screenshot illustrating the problem
Detailed steps to reproduce the behavior
