How to stop 100+ virus base emails??

I have checked for all possible virus infections. I have added a software
firewall (Zone Alarm) and turned off Internet access so as to see what
programs access the Internet. I believe that my system is safe. Now for my
problem:

I am being "bombed" by 100+ of virus laden emails. Most come with the tell
tale signs of 'SOBIG.F" and "Blaster". I fortunately have an pop email
previewer, so I can delete the infected emails. However, I also get nasty
emails stating that I have sent the offending email, which I know is not
true.

How can I stop these email from arriving??

I have the same problem and basically there isn't much you can do ... You
already do the smart thing by deleting them from your POP server directly
rather than first downloading them.

3 types of emails I get bombed with:

- The virusses, sent from infected PCs while that user seems unaware of
infection
- Replies from AV scanners that are too stupid to see that I didin't sent
infected emails and notify me of sending an infected email.
- Replies from people who indeed accuse me of sending virus infected emails
because they absolutely have no clue what-so-ever.

Unfortunately, you can't. Continue as you are doing and wait
for things to abate. I maxed out at dozen/day and they are
now dropping.

If they are that easily recognizable to you, you could get a
'free' program and check the subject, return, etc, then delete
them directly off the server so you wouldn't have to DL them first.

Magic Mail Monitor will do it.

The other step you may want to try is to set up some simple mail message
rules in OE which instruct the infected message to be deleted from the
server prior to downloading to your computer. This would not require any
additional software installation on your computer and would ensure the
unwanted messages are removed from the server.

Example: where the subject line contains 'returned mail' - delete from the
server prior to downloading

Some "returned mail" that I receive is important. I also manage an email
server for my company and need to see any "bad" emails that bounce back.

I guess I will have to monitor my emails the way I do it.

BTW: I notice that most often the "wave" of virus laden emails sent to me
happen on holidays. My last "crisis" was this past Labour Day.
