How to split a GPO

I have made a mistake. I put stuff into the default domain policy that I now need to split into pieces. (Internet Explorer
configuration to be exact.)

I would like to be able to duplicate that part of the default domain policy to a new GPO etc and then remove it from the default
domain policy. Is there any way to copy either the complete or a part of the default domain policy to a new GPO within the same
OU etc?

Win 2K DCs with Windows 2003 schema applied and Windows 2003 member servers.

Thanks

Is it Internet Explorer Maintenance settings?

If so, the SYSVOL stores that information which can be copied over to the
new GPO's SYSVOL location

If it's the ADM Template settings for Internet Explorer, then you're out of
luck. You have to manually configure the settings.

Hi,

Why don’t you just redo the settings? I found that the Default Domain
policy has a lot of stuff it in you don’t want duplicated. It is just
easier to do it manually. The Group Policy Management tool has the
ability to copy GPO’s if I am not mistaken. You can download from MS
website.

Cheers,

Lara
