How to simulate "b key"

Hi,

How do I create a slide that simulates the pressing of the B key ?
ie. using a wireless remote control I would press the next side, when
this particular side is active, the screen should go blank (black out)
as if the b key was pressed.

Thanks

I would create a slide at the end of your presentation that had anything on
it except a slide sized black rectangle. Use Right click--> Action Setting
to set that slide to "Last Slide Viewed". Right click the slide and select
"Hide Slide". The next step is to add a link to this slide at one corner of
your master slide. (Make it a part of the design and no one will even know
what it is.) When you are ready to black out your screen, click the link on
any slide. When you are ready to return to your presentation, Click the
slide and you will be back where you were. Since the slide is hidden, you
won't accidentally go there while presenting.

(Now, why do this instead of just using a B for Black? Because when you have
a tablet PC, you don't always have a keyboard. You need a way to black out
the slide quickly and cleanly.)

You'll have to check if your wireless remote allows customization.

Hello, my remote control has two simple page up/page down keys, no
customisation.

I would like to be able to do this on the slide. Is it possible to
trigger some kind of VBS code when the slide in question is active ?
If so, please show me.
I thought many people would have a use for this, I could be wrong. At
the moment I have to run back and forth ~10m away to press the B key.
Another option is to purchase a new remote control that has the b-key
function, but this would be my last option.

Thanks

From your posts it sounds like you have just a particular slide you'd like to
have this available. Also that you're remote is only PageUp / PageDn and no
mouse,

My suggestion is one of two ways, both really easy.

1. Add a new slide after the current one, draw a full screen black
rectangle on it. All Finished.

2. If you don't want extra slides, then add a fullscreen black rectangle to
the current slide, custom animate it with an entrance effect (ie. Appear) and
set it to "mouse click"

Either option, if you decide not to go black, 2 quick presses will skip the
black and no-one will really notice!

Cheers, Kyle.

Since you have a two button remote, I'm guessing this does not allow
customization -- even if you did some VBA coding that would work with
PowerPoint, not the remote.

Kathy has provided a workaround in this thread -- that may be what you need.

Hello, my remote control does not have the mouse click function
If I have to go back to the computer to use the mouse I could just
press B. Thanks anyway.

Hello, I did not know the effect of the B key is just a black
slide :)
all I need to do is to have a slide with black background where I want
to have a break during the slide show

Thanks for your help.

Ok -- sorry about making that assumption. Then do this: Make the background
Black and put a black box over 90% of the slides. Now, change the hyperlinks
from regular hyperlinks to Action Settings that are activated by mouse over.
Now, when you move your mouse over the link to the black slide, it will go
there right away. To go back, move your mouse off to the edge of the slide
and back to the box.
