How to shutdown and power off automatically ??

When I shut down, the computer ends up on a screen that
says "it is now safe to turn off your computer" and waits
for a manual shutoff. When I first had the computer at
the end of shutdown, the machine would turn off
automatically. I had to re-load due to a bad hard drive
and cannot figure out how to get back to this auto power
off configuration.. Please help if you can... thanks in
advance for taking the time...

As far as I know Windows XP doesn't need to be
manually shut down, it turns off automatically...only
previous Operating System need to be manually turn off!!!
you must replace your hard drive (if you have a bad one)
as soon as possible..
About auto-off configuration, I think there's nothing
in windows XP... sorry about this :(

Your computer's BIOS does not support Windows XP ACPI power control mode
correct. There is a fix.

Goto Control Panel ---> Power .... ---> APM tab and check on the option.
System will then shutdown correctly.
