how to set up a network

hi i have a laptop in one room and a pc somewear else

i have winxp on both pcs i use a router(sweex adsl modem+router+4 ports) 4
my adsl broadband i have a nic card in both laptop and pc

is there a web site or something like that telling me how to set a network
up am new to all of this..

i need to be told in plain english..

Networking really isn't plain English. But XP has a "Network Setup Wizard"
that will walk you through setting up a simple peer-to-peer network with
little regard for security. This is generally fine for home networks. Just
go to the Start Menu, select "help and support" and you should be able to
find it.
