How to set Insert window under Subject window in Email

I have Outlook 2000 w/XP OS. Presently when I click "Insert" to send a file
with an Email, the File goes into the body of the Email & recipients are
unable to open the file. For some reason when I click "Insert" the file
attachment doesn't go in on an attachment line window under the "Subject"
line window where it can be opened by the recipient. Why not & how can set
it up to work that way? Thank you.

what message format are you using and are you choosing insert as attachment
or insert as text?

Appreciate the response. I'm at a loss, however, in trying to find where I
would change the message format as you have suggested. Please advise. Thank
you.

Message format? Well, Word 2000 is my Email editor (plus the "appearance")
if that is what you mean.

"Insert" for the attachment (Word doc).

Still don't understand why the attachment isn't posted up in the window area
as the "send to", "cc", "Subject" to be under the Subject line as it is
supposed to be.
Thank you.
