How to set a notifier for Large Messages

Hi,

In Outlook 2000 you were given a notifier stating that a large message had
arrived and would you like to download it. This was very useful on a dial up
connection at home. However when a large message arrives it now downloads
straight away and does not notify me a new mail has gone into large messages
folder. Please can someone help. Thanks

Are you still using OL2000? Is your account set up to download headers only?
More info might help.

Thanks for your response. This issue is on Outlook 2003 as mentioned on outlook 2000 when a large message comes to the mailbox it notifies you that it has done so. However 2003 they go striaght into the large messages folder. You do not get notified or given the option as to whether you would like to download the large message. I hope this is clear. Thanks

You can set up your mail account to download headers only, or "only headers
for items larger than X:....altho' you
don't mention the kind of mail account you're using. Check your tools |
send/receive settings/define send/receive groups/edit <group name>...

I don't do this myself, and am not sure whether you still get a "Large
Messages" folder at all in OL2003. I haven't used OL2000 in years, either.

Note that "Large Mail" in Outlook 2003 isn't really a folder; it's
"Search Folder" that shows you all messages above a certain size anywhere in
your mailbox. It's a view/query, not an actual folder....not sure if this is
what you're talking about, tho.

You can go to the Oulook Help folder and search on "Large Message Notifier".
The first option tells you how to change your settings for the size of file
you want to limit.
