How to reset IE homepage across all XP profiles...?

M

Mike Sampieri

Hello. I maintain XP computers which have about 30 user-profiles each.
Most users have changed their Internet Explorer home-page (startup page)
to their liking.

I need to set a particular IE homepage, for each and every profile. I
want the profiles to stay the same, except for this one setting.

I suspect there may be an easy way to do this, probably in the registry.
I notice 2 or 3 places in registry where "IE Startup Page" is specified -
HKLM and HKCU. I tried changing it in HKLM (thinking it would effect all
users), but it didn't work - the HKCU overrides it.

Does anyone know how this can be done? I assume I can use a 3rd-party
registry editor with some search-and-replace function, but I'd rather
stay away from that, if possible.

Thanks!

-Mike

1) Remove the 1st letter, so it starts with K
2) and switch the 2-digit number to number format. ("64")

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Windows XP Security Console. You
can set the Home page and prevent the user from changing it, on a per user
basis, with this utility. The licensed version gives you the ability to do
this, without having to log on to that user's Desktop.
