how to report hack scam to Microsoft?

What Richard said. But as I pointed out, this was *not* a Security Bulletin. It
was a poorly thought out notice *about* the Security bulletin, sent via a
marketing partner of MS. Where it started, who is truly responsible (and I
suspect it was an overly-zealous minion of MS doing something s/he had no
business doing, frankly), it was a really bad idea, but nothing malicious.

I'm sure the idea was that more people than just the subscribers to TechNet
needed to see this bulletin. Where better to send it from than the holder of the
largest mailing lists around?

Microsoft Security Bulletins, which you sign up for at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/notify.asp, are PGP signed. You can
get the PGP signature from MS. I don't use PGP.

FWIW, they come "From:" <a very long, unique
identifier>@Newsletters.Microsoft.com

But there are a multitude of other mailings from Microsoft, both in-house and
sub-contracted, none of which are PGP signed. The email that started this was
not a Security Bulletin. It was a different animal altogether.
