How to remove markup from a document

Word 2003.

I have a word document that we use a format template for a report. How do
you get rid of all the Markup for changes that have occurred.

I turn off Markup on the View Menu, then save, then repopen and it opens
showing all the editing again.

I am sending the doucment to a customer. Need to get rid of all the Markup
stuff..

On the Reviewing toolbar, click on "Accept all changes in
document" and "Delete all comments in document". See

The prior response given is not adequate for Word 2003. For Word 2003, you can copy the entire document, open another word document and paste the old document into the new one. If you "hide mark up" it will just reappear, again, when you reopen the document. This is the only way that I have found to actually remove the mark up entirely.
