How to remove/hide programs for limited users

I am running XP-Pro, and have as administrator installed a lot of
programs of which many are included in the msconfig startup menu. So
they autostart when launching Windows.

When making a limited user account "Public" many of these programs
result in errors due to limited restrictions. I do not want these
programs to start at all for the limited users, but how do I avoid this?
Giving the limited user temporary administrator right, and then remove
the flag from msconfig does not seem to be the answer.

Also I would like toremove/hide other programs such as database
programs, as the limited user account basically only should have access
to IE.

Hope for some help :)

Take a look at the shortcuts in the all users profile under documents and
settings\all users\desktop and documents and settings\all users\start
menu\programs\startup. Remove the shortcuts for programs there that you do
not want to load for them and make sure they are in the same folders for
your user account under documents and settings\username. Note that hiding
programs that they have permissions to will not necessarily stop the user
from using the program if they can access it via the command line, through
Explorer, etc. To insure that you need to make sure that the user/group does
not have necessary folder/NTFS permissions to the application. The link
below explains more on configuring NTFS permissions.

show everywhere that logon processes are loaded from. Note that services are
started before any user logs on.
