How to recreate an MBR after diskpart 'clean'.

I could not get XP to allow me to assign a drive letter to a disk, si in I
went to Diskpart. After much messing around I wasn't getting anywhere and
thought I could use the 'clean' command to allow me to wipe the MBR to then
re-create it and hopefully allow it to be usuable.

However after the 'clean' the disk is no longer viewable in the volumes on
the machine.

Is there anyway to recreate the MBR or get the data off of the disk?

I would be very appreciative of any help!

TIA.

Dave.

try booting with the XP cd and selecting "repair using the recovery
console".
Then you will type "help" there without the quotes to see the commands.
One if them is fixmbr if I can recall correctly
