How to recover this Word 2003/2007 doc

Hello,

I think I may have corrupted a Word document used in Word 2007, saved in
2003 format (*.doc). The doc was saved ion my USB so I'm assuming it must
have somhow corrupted that way. I get the box prompt where it asks me to
Convert File from..."

I've tried all sorts of method:

- Install Office SP2
- Convert file to "Recover Textd from Any File"
- Convert file to almost all of the other formats listed in the drop down box
- tried to save a copy of the file and cut out some of the gibberish text

Nothing seems to work. Is there any hope?

Thanks

You have written to an MS Access group. There are Word focused groups out
there.

If you just want to get the data (ie text). Try from the "Start" menu,
"CMD". You'll get a DOS like prompt.

Change to the directory where your file is with
"CD c:\Mydirectory"

Type "Edit MyFileName.doc"

Thanks. I've reposted the thread in the Word group. I've tried your
suggestion, however it shows the same text as would appear when I try to
recover it using the below methods.

There used to be a DOS based program named BitCopy
that would let you copy a file and X Bytes beyond
it's apparent end of file. If you can get a copy (I no longer have) go to
the original location of the Word file and try it there.
