How To Question ?

when I scan a barcode into a field how could I get it to
automaticaly pull up the associated record if it exists
or give me a blank new record for data entry.

I can get the record to come up but only if I hit the
enter key after scanning the barcode, I want to avoid
hitting the enter key is this possible?

Thanks

Check your scanner information. I believe that there's a
way to have the scanner send a signal through the wedge
at the end of each scan that provides the "Enter"
function.

What we have are those handheld units pluged in with the
keyboard, there are no controls for it nor programing
featurs of any kind.

I was thinking if we scan the same size barcode 4 dig + 5
dig ####-##### would there be a way if the field would be
set to 10 digits when access sees it full to look up the
record or move to a new record if number scanned is non
existant. 99% of the time the number will exist.

thanks

I read all of the posts here and I want to do the same thing. MOST barcode
readers are programable. If you can give me a model # &/or company name and
picture, I will try to find you the "programing barcodes".

You said that you have the "search or new" part working. How did you do
that??? I have been trying for two weeks to use a barcode reader to check my
inventory and if not in inventory drop to a new entry line. I am not that
advanced of a user so details and KISS (Keep It Simple for Stupid) will help.
