Some jumper wires would be better. Just hook his/her cable/phone line up
to 110v or 220v on the outside of the building and watch the smoke! ;-)

Same goes for the new US Ambassador to the Great White, eh! ;-) He
went to the Bush school of geography.

LOL!! That's for sure!! Wonder if he thinks we still live in igloos.
Wish I did today....bloody hot and we drove to Port Dover for a pickerel
dinner.....worth it tho.

Has to be an improvement over that numbskull who was the last Ambassador
tho. He soon found out that we don't take kindly to threats.

Cheers.....Heather

Where do you thing the "94" came from? :)))

Well, shoot!! Without the wonders of the internet, I was at least 98%
certain it was Calgary, lol.

I went to that website and that was a bit freaky. Their example of an IP
number was for the city I was born in......(eerie music)!!

Heather, could you please explain to me why/how the correct SIG of
Beauregard T. Shagnasty (-- ) nevertheless shines up in your reposts?
Normally his SIG (dashdashspace) should'nt be "> -quoted" within you
repost, IMHO. Your OE-configuration?

THX for clarification.

Never thought about it......I just type the post and leave it in......as I
have done with yours.

Used to have that on here, but never used it. Baffled as to why I would
have to do so, grin. Self-taught here......no lessons on how to answer in
Usenet.
BTW, no viruses from Calgary today so far. Either Mr. Clueless got my
message, or turned off his computer for the day.

Big weekend here.....July 1st Holiday (Canada Day).....and the huge Live8
thingie. Most folks go away on this weekend....as we did.
Or, perchance, my abuse emails were answered!

Could be......I was going to phone one of those 800 numbers myself and
rattle their cages. Still will if you need any more info/help.

OK, Shaggy......I downloaded it. But will have to read the
instructions. Do you use it as a standalone or part of OE???

No, I don't use OE. :) I'd rather use something modern.
Seeing as y'all got me to try out Firefox, and I really like
it......maybe this will be OK too. But us old folks are stubborn
coots, lol.

Heh, I'm older than you and I have no problem using Thunderbird for
both Usenet and email. Latest version is about five years newer than
OE. Why not get it and give it a whirl. It will not interfere with any
settings on your computer, and will import everything from OE (whilst
leaving it intact of course).

Well, now you can give your birthplace as latitude & longitude!

Whoa!! Look what Peter started, lol. Are you using OE QuoteFix with
version 1.02 of Thunderbird??

"whilst"?? I didn't know you were British. And I still have a few more
years on you........only Art is older than dirt!! And I am fast catching up
to him, grin.

I will muse on this. I am very close to having a trustworthy tech I found
build me a new computer. I have XP Home sitting here and found I couldn't
upgrade this WinME computer. Not the fault of the O/S.....the fault of MDG
who built this one and put 5 year old parts in that they thought no one
would find out about.....as in BIOS for instance. Not impressed at all!!

I am not all that knowledgeable about hardware, but sure learning fast.
Willy couldn't even put a second HD in....let alone XP. It continually
crashed on him as well (I had tried to upgrade in Feb). Apparently, this is
not unusual with some of the big brand names in computers (old parts).

Thanks......Heather

My grandmother was born in Liverpool. Is that British enough?

Muse away. T-bird works with WinME quite well.
I am very close to having a trustworthy tech ...

You could call the Geek Squad. <lol>

Sure.....if you want to admit to an ancestor being born in Liverpool, grin.
You could call the Geek Squad. <lol>

You should have heard what I called them!! "Sir Geek" wanted nothing more
than to get me the hell out his store. His first fatal mistake was saying I
*had a virus* coz I couldn't upgrade to XP.....it went downhill from there,
lol!! I backed him into a corner (verbally) and he turned out to be a not
very knowledgeable Geek. Seems I knew more about a few things than he did.
He was not a happy camper. (Little Old Lady - 5......Geek - zero, evil
grin)

I finally found *Willy the Wonder Tech* and quizzed him several
times........and Yahoo, found one that knew what I was talking about and
what was wrong with this computer. Not to mention he speaks 4 languages and
loves to travel to the same countries that I do. But he figures he can
build me a topnotch computer with a DVD writer even, for about $800, which
is a damned good price considering our dollar vs. yours. Must get over
there and discuss hardware, etc. The burner went on this one, so might as
well bite the bullet and go for a new one.....but will network this one for
sure.

Cheers.....Heather

I have no choice. That's where she was born!

I love it when I wander into a computer store, they see my
silver-white hair and immediately think I know nothing about computers
and software. Heh, then I have fun.

Good luck with the new one.

mentioned?
