How to Network a WinXP PC and Win98 PC connecting through a modem

I am trying to network 2 PCs, one win98 and one winXP home. I'm already using
a modem to connect both of them to internet, using USB for the win98 and
Ethernet for the XP one. Although they can both connect directly to the
internet, as well as play LAN games, they cannot browse each other or share
the printer.
Using Network Wizard, it says my connection type (both connecting directly
to internet through a hub) is not recommended due to security issues.
What can I do to network these PCs in this situation?

Replace the hub with a router. See http://home.comcast.net/~bobwbsgs/homenet.txt
