How to map other PC's CD-ROM as a secondary CD-ROM?

Notebook is using (WIndow 98)
Other PC is using (Window XP)

My notebook's CD-ROM does not function well, and I would like to access
other PC's CD-ROM through networking. I successfully connect other PC and map
its' CD-ROM as a drive, but how to map the PC's CD-ROM as a secondary CD-ROM
not a
drive?
Does anyone have any suggestion?
Thank you
Eric

AFAIK, all you can do is make it show up as a mapped drive across the
network (or access it as a share via a UNC path). You can't fool your
computer into thinking it's a local CD-ROM. What's your goal?

In my case, some software needs to perform checking for validaton through
local CD-ROM. Do you have any suggestion?
Thank you
