How to make a Host Record

Hi all,

I am new to DNS. Please help me...

In my organisation, we have tunnel connection between our clientsfor
accessing some web sites. We normally use to resolving domain names (tunnel
sites domain) by using %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file entry. Often
the sites ip address getting changed in Client end. So according to that, we
need to update the host entry in all the systems.Instead of updating hosts
file in all system, is it passible to have local dns where we can update the
hostname and ip address.

Please help me how can i accomplish this?

Raam

The simplified answer: For each client, install a DNS server and create a
zone for them to use. IF they have AD they already have a DNS server and a
zone created for the AD domain. Create a secondary zone on your DNS servetr
for each client's zone specifying their IP address as the Master. Of course
allow zone transfers from their zone to your secondary. Do this for each.

I hope that helps.
