How to invoke McAfee VirusScan but NOT for mail

I have been fighting a plaguing Outlook mail problem (sending large
attachments). As part of my troubleshooting, I ran many tests with
McAfee VirusScan (10.x) mail scanning turned OFF. But to no avail, I
continued to get the dreaded 0x800ccc0f error.

On a whim, I exited McAfee Security Center, and voila! - I was then
able to send my mail successfully.

Question: I really don't want to run without VirusScan protection -
how can I run VirusScan on files that I access, but turn off whatever
mail scan facility was running (even though I had turned them off in
the McAfee VirusScan options)? Does his involve some sort of McAfee
configuration? Regedits? Or what?

Hope someone can help and give me a relaxed Christmas - thanks!

The best place to ask is in the McAfee Forums.

It looks like I spoke too soon, nyay. I ran another test, and now I
can't send attachments anymore... :-(
