Have either of you simply tried Insert/Movies and Sounds/Sound from File?
Then navigate to the sound file and say OK.

You may need to search your harddrive to find the file. If you do this, I
recommend that you take the additional step of copying the file and saving
it in the same folder with your presentation. Then insert it into the PPT
file as described above.

Well, if you "sampled" a song and saved it somewhere, when you saved, you
should have seen a file extension of some sort. At least, I'd think that is
what would happen -- since I don't know exactly what "placed it on Windows
Media Player" means, it's hard to tell, though. At any rate, you're looking
for the sound file itself. Does WMP give you any ideas where it might be? I
mean, here, if I play a sound file and right-click its title in the playlist
panel thingy, I can select "properties," and that gives me the path to where
the file is on my harddrive.

To turn on file extensions, see the Windows setup section at Do this before
using PowerPoint seriously
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00034.htm

Once you know the file extension, you can search on it by typing *.extension
into the search box. For example, *.MID or *.WAV or *.WMA, etc.
