How to Increase Maximum Audio Volume?

F

Fran

I have some hearing difficulties. Is there a way to increase the maximum
audio volume on my computer BEYOND the volume controls on my computer. I
would like loader audio so I can more clearly hear the sound while watching
a film clip, movie, or to listening to music? All help would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance, Fran

What do you use to reproduce the sound from the computer?
Speakers
Headphones
Etc.
Do you have a set of powered/amplified speakers?

Generally an external amplifier is the best solution.
This may be fairly small and low power if headphones are used, or
considerably more powerfull if speakes are used.

Most computers have a fairly low power amplifier built in that is adequate
under normal circumstances to drive small amplified speakers or headphones,
and not much else.
There may be a line out jack that can feed an external amplifier.

Assuming that you have a desktop computer with external speakers, there are
two separate volume controls:

1. On the speakers themselves

2. Within Windows. Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Sounds and Audio
Devices, and select "Place volume control on the task bar."

Turning both of these up should give you very loud sound.

If yours is a laptop, you might want to buy external speakers for it, and
then do the same thing.

Over driving the audio level often creates distortion making
the sound louder buy even harder to hear.
The best solution would be to use an external amplifier,
such as a TV home theater or stereo with the volume not
higher than 75% to keep a "clean" signal.

Consider a pair of noise canceling full cup headphones to
cut ambient noise and give a clean sound right at your ear.
Google for [noise suppression stereo headphones] or headset
to see a full selection.
