How to Import from Photo Story 3

Guest

I am trying to import a file from PS3. I get this message:
PhotoStory2222.wp3 is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported
into Windows Movie Maker.

I checked the past messages on importing and now I am thoroughly confused.
How can I import a PhotoStory3 file.

Thanks.

The file you are trying to import is the
PhotoStory .wp3 project file. You need
the completed .wmv movie file.

Thanks John.

My plan is to use the Custom Motion feature of PH3. Does the wmv file have
the results of my editing? How do I import that file?

Yes. The wmv file is the video that you created using PhototStory. Your
project is just a collection of all the pieces you used to create your video.
To import the wmv file into MM2, open it up, click of FILE, then click on
Import Into Collections, then find the wmv file you want to import. A word of
warning: Do not mess with your PhotoStory project file until you are done
with your MM2 movie (and maybe not even then). If you delete all the pictures
and sound clicps from your PhotoStory project but then realize the wmv file
you imported into MM2 isn't exactly what you want, you will have to create it
all over again.

Thanks 3KINGS and John, I am now able to merge my PS3 file, with motion, into
the MM program. One problem, the pictures from PS3 than had motion effects
applied to it are "grainy." The still pictures and a move clip from my Canon
camera are clear. Any idea how to make them sharper?

Thanks again

Adjust the settings in PS3 before saving the WMV file by clicking the
[Settings] button when you get to the "Save Your Movie" screen. Since my
videos always end up on DVD I use the "Profile for creating DVDs - NTSC
(640x480) setting.

Thanks for the tip. I tried for computers: 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768.
And also for VCD NTSC. I used Nero 6.6 to create the VCD. The 1024x768
worked the best, although not great. One problem may be that I am using a 2M
camera - using the super fine setting. Or could it be Nero? I am bringing
it in as 1024x768 but the info in Nero says Target Video Options 352x240 (is
this resolution?) [1/4 D1] - 4:3. Any Nero experts out there?

The only thing I can tell you is that when I try to use 1024x768 with PS3 I
do tend to have problems with the video quality both when importing it into
WMM and also when going directly from PS3 to DVD. This has been the case
with both Nero 6.6 and with Ulead Movie Factory. I now use Nero 7 Ultra and
have not tried with that simply because the 640x480 DVD setting works so
well for me every time.
