How to I reset my pound sign

I seem to have lost my pound sign and other keyboard symbols have changed
also. I have checked that my keyboard is set to English UK Language and not
US and have opened the control panel and checked the language settings and
all state that the language is English UK. Despite all seeming ok I still
cannot type the pound sign. I am using a wireless keyboard.

This doesn't seem to be a Word problem, but what happens when you
press the key that is meant to give you a pound sign?

If you have multiple languages installed, it could still be that Word is
picking up the wrong as it is application dependent in Windows. You could
try using CTRL+SHIFT to cycle through the languages while in Word and see if
that solves anything.
