How can I set IE to play MP3s on a webpage using Windows Media Player
instead of QuickTime?

You should be able to open WMP, click on tools, options, file types, and set
WMP to be the default for MP3 files. If that doesn't work then you'll
probably need to disable it in QuickTime, I don't use it so don't know how
it's done, and/or open Windows Explorer, click on tools, options, file
types, and set the default MP3 open with to WMP.

Open "Quicktime" and uncheck the little box in options that says to use
it for MP3's
