How to fix To-do List and reminders showing triplicate items

My to-do List and thus reminders are displaying in triplicate. This is
possibly due to back up personal folders also held in Outlook? Though had
this before and never occured. I cannot find way to elimitate the problem,
can anyone please suggest a fix.
