Nah, until I got stuch with this danged "internal", I always did
the same thing you do. Long's it doesn't confuse your system,
not much else can go wrong.
Some people pull the phone plug, but that was always too
inconvenient for me. Now I'm on a UPS with both
protected/unprotected output, everythings' plugged into it, and
have a switch on the phone lines, so it's Shut Down, disable the
UPS, unplug the UPS & throw the switch on the phone lines - let
the lightning come! Which, anymore, is about the only time I
turn things off.
| My computer, monitor, cable modem, etc are all powered through
a surge
| protector. Each item has its own on/off switch as well as a
master on/off.
| When I want to disconnect from the network I simply toggle the
cable modem
| power OFF. When I want to reconnect I switch the power back
ON. It takes
| about a minute for it to renegotiate the internet connection
and then works
| fine.
|
| I haven't had any problems doing this. Anyone here know if
this is "hard"
| on the modem?
