How to: Disable XP's Simple File Sharing through Group Policy

Is there any way to disable/clear the "Use Simple File Sharing" check
box on XP Pro machines through the use of Group Policy in Active
Directory? We have many XP machines on our network that require this
setting to be disabled.

TIA,

Sean

Are you finding it enabled?? If so then maybe your users are also local
administrators which generally is a bad idea. By default simple file sharing
is disabled when a computer joins the domain. What may help enforce it is to
configure domain/OU level Group Policy to force the security option found in
security settings/local policies/ security options - network access:sharing
and security model for local accounts and set it to classic - users
authenticate as themselves. I would also consider enforcing the user right
for deny access this computer from the network and add guest. --- Steve
