How to disable track changes in a document that already contains t

Dominique

Hello,
I have modified some documents, not thinking about the track changes feature
being switched on. Now I would like to remove all tracking from my document
(so that it looks as it is written newly).
I have already accepted all changes in the document, but e.g. in the list of
reviewers the latest author is still visible.
As the document is based on an external template, starting a new blank
document and copying and pasting the whole file is not an option.
Does anybody know how to make my document look as if I have started from new?

Thanks
Dominique

If you are using Word 2007: Office button | Word Options, Trust Center
category. Click the Trust Center Settings button. In the Privacy category,
click Document Inspector.

For Word 2003 (from Word 2003 Help):

*********************************
Remove personal information from file properties
When you use this procedure, the following personal information is removed
from your document:

a. File properties: Author, Manager, Company, Last saved by.
b. Names, date, and time associated with comments (comment: A note or
annotation that an author or reviewer adds to a document. Microsoft Word
displays the comment in a balloon in the margin of the document or in the
Reviewing Pane.) or tracked changes (tracked change: A mark that shows where
a deletion, insertion, or other editing change has been made in a
document.): Names are changed to "Author." Date and time are removed.
c. Routing slip: The routing slip is removed.
d. The e-mail message header that's generated with the E-mail button is
removed.
e. Versioning: The name under Saved by is changed to "Author."

1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Security tab.
2. Select the Remove personal information from file properties on save
check box.
3. Save the document.

Thank you for the fast response, but the problem with the reviewers list
remains: if I open the "Reviewing" toolbar and I ask for the list of
reviewers, the name of the previous author is still filled in.

Do you have any idea?
Thanks

Sorry, I wasn't aware of this issue. :-(

Perhaps someone else can help?

Are you using 2002?
The only problem with Reviewers/All Reviewers seems to be with Word 2002.
Have a look at:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905419/en-us

If you are not using 2002, then you are correct in your assumption that the
list should clear when all changes are accepted/rejected.
Do you have the same probelm with any other template or only this one? Could
be a problem with this particular template.
Have you tried attaching the document to another template (even Normal.dot),
to see if the problem disappears.
This is obviously not the best solution but could work, obviously try this
on a copy of the document (just in case) ;-)
Please post the solution to your problem, if you find one that is, so we can
learn from your predicament.
Hope this helps
Best of luck.
