How to delay displaying the title with animation set in the master

G

Guest

I have a ticker going on the first slide.

When the second slide appears, I want it to show the background, pause for a
few seconds, then display the title. I apply "grow/shrink" effect to the
title in the master. How can I delay for the display of the title for the
second slide only?

I don't want to put a blank slide that only has the background between #1
and #2.
I try to display a transparent shape with no lines before the title, but I
don't seem to be able to display anythig before the title since the format
for the title is set in the master.

I wonder if there is any solution.

TIA

Of course, there is a solution with the brilliant MVP's around. Thank you,
Echo. Does Echo still have purple hair? I didn't see it on the picture.

I did see "copy effects to slide" before my very first post, but I didn't
know what it was.

It is "scary" that I am talking to myself - asking a question and answering
it myself. So, I'll ask a different question now. I have delayed the
animation of the title on slide #2. If I add or change the animation to the
master later on, will slide #2 be affected as well?

Thanks.

Epinn,
Individual changes you made will take prevalence over those you applied in
the master. So no worries.

I found the link as soon as I hit "post."

I call that Echo's Law, since I know it's got to be someone's law (like
maybe Murphy's?), but I don't know whose.

Something like, after posting a question, the probability of finding the
answer on your own rapidly approaches 1.

LOL! You're welcome, and yes, I do. Don't think lavendar purple, though,
think more like burgundy purple. Steve and Brian just like to say it's
purple because it gives people all *kinds* of mental pictures!

Yes, I think the PPT team did a pretty good job of adding that "copy effect
to slide," but it's unfortunately still not very intuitive.

LOL@ the talking to yourself. I do think that means you're officially
hooked, Epinn.

I don't know the answer to your question about changing the animation on the
master. I'll have to try it if you don't beat me to it. :)

Ahhhhhh, makes sense. Thanks for the answer, Luc!

Thank you for the reminder, Luc. This brings back my issue on formatting
the background that you taught me. Same concept - individual changes will
take prevalence ....... especially when one clicks "omit background
graphics."

Back to my thread here. You know what, I am thinking of the opposite this
time - I want it to be affected by the master. Echo knows that I am like "I
want it and I don't want it." Continuing the same scenario posted on my
first post...... I have delayed the display of the title on the second slide
and the animation is the same as what the master has. I am thinking if I
change the animation on the master from grow/shrink to something else, will
slide #2 pick it up like all the other slides. If I change the font of the
title on the master, will slide #2 pick it up etc.

I will test this out and report back unless Echo beats me to it. I felt I
**had to** ask something previously because I didn't like "talking to
myself."

Thank you for listening/reading.

Echo, I had better proof than this that I am officially hooked. It scared
me. I don't want to tell the world my proof; but I'll e-mail you, trusting
that you will treat it as our little secret.

I tested it. Just to refresh - I did "copy effects" to slide #2 and delayed
the display of the animation (grow/shrink) of the title set in the master.
But I didn't make any changes to the animation, just a delay. Then I added
another effect "stretch" to the title in the placeholder in the master.
Slide #2 **didn't** pick it up.

I heard Luc and I understood that slide #2 would override the master. For
example, I could remove "grow/shrink" from slide #2. But I wasn't sure if
it would still pick up future changes to the master and THEN **allow me to
override" afterwards.

Looks like once we have done "copy effects," Mr. Slide is on his own i.e.
independent of the master.

How nice it will be if we can have a choice to override for just one time
....... That may be too confusing. Am I too greedy?

Anyway, I am just happy that I can make individual changes with the "copy
effects" feature. I just have to remember which slides have broken the link
from the master and make the changes separately. Wonder how PPT 2007
behaves in this regard.

Please feel free to verify my findings.
