I am experimenting with Internet Options in an effort
to find the most secure, yet usable configuration.
When I reset Security Settings to the "High" level
(modified slightly), certain trustable web sites
behave badly. When I reset to "Medium" settings,
everything works fine.
How can I isolate which Security Settings are causing
the problem?
I can revert to their "Medium" settings one by one. But
in theory, the problem might be due to a combination of
settings. The process can become tedious.
Is there a better way to debug the problem?
Examples of "bad" behavior:
1. When I sign onto groups.google.com, I must click on
another link before getting a form to fill in the
email address and password. Normally, "sign in"
goes directly to a form.
2. After I submit the sign-in form for groups.google.com,
IE seems to "get stuck" on a blank web page with a
very long and oddball URL. "Done" appears in the
lower left of the status line. Note: IE is not
really hung. It responds to the keyboard and mouse.
But the page content never appears.
(Or I am too impatient to wait more than 60 sec. I
do not believe the problem is due to slow networking.
As I mentioned, resetting to "Medium" works just fine.)
