How to create a link from paragraph heading to an alphabetical ind

I'm creating a song list in Microsoft Word 2007. I've started listing the
songs alphabetically with a heading A: song 1, song 2..., B: song 1, song
2...and so on. I have weblinked all song titles but the list is at 40 pgaes
long and it takes some time to navigate. What I'm attempting to do is at the
top of the first page create a alphabetical index A - Z and link each list
heading for the sons A through Z to the index A - Z so that to go to songs
listed under G for instance, one can select the letter G from the index at
the top of the page and it wil take you to the G song listings on whatever
page it is located on. I've tried several options with "links" bookmark,
hyperlink, cross-reference and even "mark entry" with no success. Any help on
this much appreciated.

You can certainly create an index in Word, but note that the entries won't
be hyperlinked. What you can do is insert bookmarks at the appropriate
locations and then insert cross-references (which are hyperlinked by
default) to the bookmarks.
