How to correct "greyed out" situtation in Word 2002 (Tools > Cust

In Word 2002, Tools > Customize ----- Want to show a check mark beside first
two items, ie, Show toolbar and formating toolbar on two rows.. The check
mark is greyed out. How to correct? System restore in Win XP does not help.
If I go to Help > Detect & Repair will this clear up the problem. Must have
disk?

In all probability you have one or the other of those two toolbars turned
OFF. Both must be turned ON in order for that checkbox to be active.

In the Customize dialog go to the Toolbars page first & check the box for
bot toolbars, then go to the Options page & set the checkmark.
