How to change default File listing order to Alphabetical ?

All file search windows come up with the default view as
"List" (I want them to default to "Details" view), and in
some obscure order which I assume is the last opened listed
first or something along that line.

How do I change the defaults to Detail view and Alpha order
by file name?

Open a folder and use the view menu to customize the folder as you would like the default view to be. Then navigate to tools/folder options/view and click "apply to all folders". Click apply and OK and you're done.
