How to Block the Popup Blocker

This new popup blocker in IE 6 SP 2 seems rather heavy handed.

I have a local application which brings up an html screen in IE. If I click on one of the menu items the app uses javascript to pop up a second window and start playing a Flash movie. However, now after installing SP2 I first get "To help project your security, yada, yada. Click here for options.." Then I have to click on "Allow Blocked Content" and then read the security warning before I can start playing the Flash movie.

I turned off the Popup Blocker under Tools, but I still have to go through this stupid routine every time. There must be a way to tell IE to cool it.

Go to internet options...advanced tab..scroll down to security and put a
check in the 2 Allow active content boxes.

You're right. That worked. Thanks.

However, I still don't think I understand what's happening. Examples:

1) Before I checked those boxes I could go to my website,
http://www.digitalmusicdoctor.com/demo.htm, and access the same Flash movies
without any problem.

2) Just to make sure this was the issue, after I checked the boxes and ran
the Flash movies successfully, I unchecked the boxes and enabled the Popup
Blocker. And surprise! Now I don't have any problem running the Flash
movies from a file or a CD any more no matter which way the options are set
or whether the Popup Blocker is enabled or disabled.

From your message, it sounds like you were trying to run
the movie from the internet at first and then later,
locally. If that's true, then that's the difference. The
pop-up blocker applies different rules to the internet
than it does to local content. (i.e. Nothing will be
blocked if it originates locally. Content that originates
from the internet will be judged much more harshly.)
