How to add new color text as I write between existing text?

I already have an existing Word doc. It is typed with black color.

Today I'd like to add text in between the lines, answers to questions that I
had written out on the existing Word doc.

There must be some way to "use a different colored pen," so to speak to move
quickly through the text without having to go back and change the colors at
the end, no?

Hi JulieP-

You should be able to just click where you want to type, select your font
color _first_, then and type in that color. You will still have to select
the color at each new location unless you want to set your default font colr,
then change it back to 'Automatic' later.

If you intend to do this a lot, you might want to create an "answer" style
using the font color of your choice.

Another quick way to do this (albeit with some major drawbacks) is to turn
on Track Changes and set the desired color for inserted text.
