how to access an msnpst file via outlook?

I have a msnpst file in my HD which I used to access via outlook. I
mistakenly removed the msn account that was associated to it and now I can
not see the messages from the msnpst file. I would like to be able to import
those messages back into outlook. I read a posting suggesting to readd the
msn account via the connector, and then rename the files, but when I add the
account, it creates a pst file (not a .msnpst), so I can't rename them. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This should just be an image of the folders on MSN. Can you still access
them with a new account? If you can then all you need to do is add the
account and copy the messages to your local PST.

Thanks a lot! I checked and the MSN account still has a good number of
messages. I hope it's all I had. So now I have a new question: how I do I
download the email stored in the MSN account into outlook. New incoming email
is visible in outlook but Outlook does not see/download any of the older
messages.

I'm really not sure on that. I don't have the Connector installed to check.
I'd ask in an MSN group and see if they know.
