How set file name for File port?

B

Bill

I have installed a Generic/Text printer in XP SP2. The port is File.
When I print to this printer I am prompted for a file name. I want to
permanently set the file name and not be prompted. IIRC this can be
done with a registry entry that specifies the file name but I have no
idea what registry entry is required. Can anyone tell me how to set a
static file name form the File port? Thanks.

Hi Bill,

don't use a File port. Use a new "Local Port" with a fixed file name
e.g. "c:\temp\output.prn".
This file will be overwritten with every job. If you want a more
flexible name, try a port monitor like redmon or my printmulti
(but sorry there is no english manual, just a detailed example
available) for PrintMulti.
