How many users can be connected to my machine?

We have a small office (about 10-12 computers). Most are WinXP, some (4)
are Win98.

I have a folder shared on my machine that I want EVERYONE to have access to.

I ran into a problem today when one of the machines would not connect
saying I already had the maximum users connected.

What is the limit and is it changeable? If so how?

Thank you!
Mark :)

Win XP HE has a limit of 5 concurrent inbound connections. For Win XP PRO
and MC, the limit is 10. No valid way to change those limits.

You could upgrade your "server" PC to use a server OS instead of XP, or
you could downgrade it to W9x.

Mark,

As Bob points out, there is no valid way to increase the limit. If your client
activity permits, the normal resolution would be to decrease the inactive
connection timeout period. If your computers are typically accessing each other
briefly, then remaining idle for some time, this would be a good solution.

Otherwise, and with 10 - 12 computers this is a good thing to think about,
setting up a server, and a domain, would not be a bad idea.
