How graphic card detects TV is connected ?

Hi!

I have performed almost all tests and tries to start-up TV-Out in my
graphic card.
I've reinstaled drivers etc etc..
Finally I become convinced, that my Radeon 9550 has damaged TV-out :(

I have only two questions to You...
- When I connect TV with computer, during system start-up procedure ...
shuld I see the boot screen on TV? No matter the driver is installed or not?
- Are there any Mainboard BIOS settings connected with VGA card?
Concernig VGA's TV-out of course..

Sorry my english.. :|

You have to go in to the set-up of your display card, and assign its output
to the TV out of the card.

Read the help (instructions) for your card.

Your english is very good. You can speak and write more than one language.
That is excellent! I'm ashamed to say I only speak english and I don't write
English very well. I don't even know the Polish alphabet. Thank you for
using english.

Anyway ...

Interesting question. I don't have Radeon but I do have NVidia. This NVidia
card is several years old. My card automatically recognizes when there is a
television connected if the TV is turned on.

So, you want to know which part of the signal tells the card that a TV is
connected? Good question. I don't know either.

But, I do know that it is not always necessary to tell your driver that a TV
is connected. Some cards can automatically detect that a TV is there. (TV
has to be turned on, I think.)

Also, the NVidia driver has an available selection to "force detection" of a
TV. I wonder if ATI Radeon engineers put that selection in your driver?

Have you ever looked at http://www.videohelp.com ? I think you will find
your answer there. At VideoHelp.com, you can search the huge forum for
topics involving your video card and its drivers.

At VideoHelp.com, you can also discover the hundreds of people around the
world who "hack" ATI Radeon and other drivers. In other words, if ATI
doesn't fix a problem, you can often find a "hacker" who has customized your
driver to do what you need to do.

Thank you for such extensive answer.

The ATI (Radeon) driver has that feature either. Unfortunatelly "force
detection" did not help me solving problem. That's why I assume the
hardware is failed.

Thanks a lot.. I'll try to find something there..

Might sound stupid, but... did you check the cable connecting tv and
graphic card? :] I don't think your tv-out is malfunctioning. It just
needs correct software setup (video standard, etc...).

Seeya...
