How do you put page numbers on opposite corners (for bookfold)?

I have a file that will print double sided and want page numbers on the
bottom outside corners. So for pages that will be on the right half will
have the number on the right corner and for the left half, the left corner.
How is this done with Word 2007?

Hi Grege,

You set the document up so that its page layout uses different odd and even pages. From the 'Page Layout' ribbon, select Page
Setup|Layout|Different odd and even.

Then you go to the two footers that will show up and Insert Page
Number in both of them. For the left-hand page, it'll be at the left
margin; for the right-hand page, you can either change the
justification to Flush Right, or (better) type two tabs to the left of
the page number, which should take it to the right-tab at the right
end of the Footer paragraph.

Tabbing twice will take you beyond the margin in a "Book fold" document
unless you have modified the Header/Footer style since the tab stops (in
Word 2003 and earlier) are not alignment tabs but instead ordinary center
and right-aligned tabs positioned to be correct on the default Normal.dot
page. If there is to be nothing else in the header/footer, I prefer right
alignment (Ctrl+R) instead.
