Hi.

How do you link to an .xnk / exchange public folder ? I've tried a
couple of methods to get round the
'you can't link to this sort of file' error message that powerpoint
gives me. () copying the /public folder
address from its properties tab () copying the .xnk public folder link
to my desktop and linking to it.
Nothing seems to work. Not being a vba kind of person and sort of new
to powerpoint ... can you help?

Cheers.
ian.

Have you tried...

Insert > Object > Create From File and then selecting the file you want.

Hi, yes I've tried linking to an .XNK (which points to the public
folder in question) on my desktop but PP sends me back the following
error message.

"Error lors de la resolution de le lien, ce fichier n'est peut pas un
lien" << french
"Error resolving the link, this file is probably not a link" <<
english

I've also tried selecting an object the using the "send to public
folder" icon supplied, which doesnt seem to work (not in the way I
want it to).

Do you know of a comprehensive list of linkable file types by any
chance ?

Thanks for your help.

The xnk is simply a link, so it might be deeper. Are you running sql server?
Do you get an error number?

Anyway, this might help:
