How do you import "New and Unread" e mail only?

I had set up my new mail account in Outlook 2003 and I liked all the options
like the calendar. I decided to import some of my other e mail accounts, but
I only wanted new and unread e mail I have 1065 e mails and I wanted to leave
them on the current IP server and I checked their setting as well and there
was no was to specify New aqnd Unread so they told me to try MS help setting
up outlook. Kindly note this feature is available with Thunderbird so I
assumed others would have it as well.

Additionally is it possible to set up new inboxes for each account or just
folders with the account names?

Thank you,

Log onto the mailbox via a web browser and move to a new folder all the
messages you don't want Outlook to download.

There's no way I can think of that even Thunderbird would know which of the
messages you'd downloaded in another mail client.

ALl pop accounts share the same set of folders. You can use rules to
organize incoming mail into separate folders based on the account or
recipient address.

Dear Brian,
Thank you for the reply. Yes there is a setting in thunderbird to get just
new and unread e mail. I learned about it the hard way after setting up and
importing 5 years of e mail from Yahoo into Thunderbird. Yahoo told me how to
return it in bulk. I am disappointed that you must ad folders and rules for
additional e mail accounts. It's like having a house guest and having to
share your room with them instead being able to give them a room for
themselves. I understand from reading the messages that the inbox gets max'ed
out at 25 to 30 Mgs. You would think that they could build a better mouse
trap or inbox!
Thanks,
Harvey7

Since a POP mail server does not keep any record of what messages have been
"read" (since you can't read messages with a server, only a client), there's
no way Thunderbird can know if Outlook (or any other client) has also
downloaded those messages. It just not possible. I don't know what those
settings do, but it must be specific to Thunderbird and can have nothing to
do with what any other mail client does.

Simply untrue.

You can have distinct Inboxes if you wish to have separate mail profiles and
don't wish to use rules. Moreover, Outlook 2007 can delivery to separate
folders based on receiving account, but since you're using Outlook 2003, you
don't have that feature.
