How do you delete supporting master slides?

In PowerPoint 2007, I want to use a different slide layout that what is
presented as the first master slide. There is no option to delete. I also
want to get rid of the first supporting slide, but there is no option to
delete that one either. How do I delete these to get to the layout I do want
to use?

Sheila,
Insert a new master slide, using the Insert Master slide button in the Edit
master group.
It will be inserted as slide master number 2 beneath the first one. Now,
drag your second master to the top of the list (watch out for the horizontal
line that appears). Release your mouse button, now you can delete the old
master and all it's layouts.

You must have at least one master, so you can do as Luc explained, or you
can modify the existing master.

As for the slide layouts -- the small ones that take their settings from the
slide masters -- you cannot delete those if there is a slide in the
presentation based on that slide layout. If you apply a different layout to
slides using that layout, then you can delete that layout.

You can change the layout for any slide by selecting the Layout option in the
Home tab of the Ribbon. This brings up the Layout Gallery -- click the new
layout that you want to apply.
